Treasurer

William McIntosh

Full Name:
William McIntosh
Role:
Treasurer

Biography

William McIntosh was a Dundee fan as a boy back when the club played at Carolina Port, where, reputedly, he would sell programmes before the match.

He became the licensee of the Opera Bar, Gellatly Street, at the age of 20, and he remained there for fifty-four years.

He resigned his post as a treasurer in 1933, but gave no public reason for this, however, in 1934 Mr McIntosh sued Dundee F.C. for non-payment of an account amounting to £70. He was very proud of what he had achieved at Dundee, as big improvements to the ground were made during his time on the board.

He was honorary treasurer of the Scottish Football Association and Glasgow Charity Football Association as well as being a member of the Management Committee of the Scottish Football League, and the International League Board.

He latterly became a director at Tannadice!

Mr McIntosh died in 1955, aged 78. His funeral took place at Dundee Crematorium, and there was a big turnout from the world of football with both retired and current players wishing to show their respect.
