This is a winners medal from the 1889-90 Forfarshire 2nd XI Cup which was awarded to Our Boys Rangers’ (the name given to Our Boys’ 2nd XI) J. Grewar. The final was played on 01 March 1890 at Harp’s East Dock Street Park between Our Boys Rangers and Arbroath 2nd XI. Arbroath were looking to avenge their first XI’s defeat in the Forfarshire Cup semi-final at West Craigie Park.
After about half an hour’s equal play Grewar scored the first goal for Our Boys. Soon after Stewart got a second and Grewar again scored before half time. following the restart Arbroath made more of a game of it until Low and Himsworth scored the 4th and 5th within a minute. Our Boys Rangers then scored a furthrer three goals to romp home 8-0. Their first XI’s made it a nice Forfarshire Cup double later in the season as they too won their respective tournament.
