Biography

Alan was signed for Aberdeen, in February 1947, by former Dundee player David Halliday. He had started his career with junior club Banks o’ Dee, and played for them against Renfrew in the Scottish Junior Cup. He also represented Scotland as a junior against Ireland, which finished 2-2.

After two seasons with the Dons, and making only eight appearances, he signed for Dundee on a free transfer for the start of the 1949-50 season. Alan’s first team debut was against Clyde in the League Cup, a 1-1 draw in August. However, he did not make his league debut until December in a 1-0 home win over East Fife. He remained at Dens Park until 1954, making thirteen first team appearances.

In November 1954, he made the short move across the road to Tannadice, when former Dee, Reggie Smith, signed him for Dundee United. Massie was offered a free transfer in 1956, and released in April of that year.

Alan died, in Aberdeen, in 1989.
